Last month Osborne Clarke launched the latest in the series of smart cities research reports “Smart cities in Europe: the future of the built environment” (written in collaboration with The Lawyer Research) with a panel discussion, facilitated by Andrew Tuck (founding editor of “Monocle Magazine” and host of the radio show “The Urbanist”).
On our panel of industry experts were Osborne Clarke’s real estate Partners Simon Hobday and Peter Day, Alice Breheny (TH Real Estate), Andrew Collinge (Greater London Authority), Rupert Green (Lend Lease), Lucy Symons (Open Energi), and Dominic Wilson (Property Innovation Labs).
The panel shared their perspectives on how the built environment can become smarter and more effective. During the discussion, our experts explored the challenges and opportunities uncovered by our research, including: new income streams of monetising building data, how we can truly integrate buildings, the retrofit challenge, the evolution of city infrastructure and today’s most disruptive influences, and how a ‘smart’ built environment is driven by both developers and investors.
This podcast provides insight into the event and a deeper look at the future of the built environment.
