Simon advises on regulatory issues and projects, with a key focus on smart grid, power management and decentralized energy projects.

  • Smart grid, power management and decentralised energy: advising sponsors, funders, commercial entrants and operators on integrated low carbon energy solutions, energy efficiency and smart grid applications, district heating and CHP as well as decentralised power generation and innovative energy business models.
  • Energy regulation: advising on issues such as network operation and network/grid connection, licensing, regulatory compliance and disputes.
  • Nuclear: advising government, nuclear technology providers and owners/operators on nuclear new build and decommissioning projects and nuclear liability issues in the UK and internationally.
  • Energy projects: advising on UK and international projects including power plant development (CCGT, AD, EFW, biomass, solar nuclear, coal and wind), concession arrangements and privatisations.

Simon is on the board of the Association of Decentralised Energy and a member of its CHP Policy Working Group. He is a member of the Investor Confidence Project Europe Steering Group, the Advisory Board for Penwell’s PowerGen Europe Conference and the Energy Institute. He regularly writes articles covering regulatory and commercial issues in the energy sector.
